Am I too picky? hahaha

Today’s talented, ambitious women are staying single in droves. Are they too busy, too picky or — horrors — too awesome?

Tear up the past

了那封信 - 高娜

我不曾恨過你
也不曾埋怨你的過分
你是不是已經忘記
我這個女人
我還那麼愛你
卻連我自己也不敢相信
還曾天真地以為自己
在你的懷裡

haha I really nice song! I discovered it yesterday! I guess it means to tear up the past and forget that person who treated you badly.
Hum, so far my life is good. Got an interview for Co-op program. Will get braces in July. Things are fine. Cant wait for summer to come!! :)

Understand

I understand that we can never be the same again after we’ve been hurt by someone we trust , care and love. Still, I find that it isn’t a good reason for us to blame that person for all the problems we have today. It is important to see problems in a more positive light. See what we have learned from this experience. See what that person has learned from this experience. Understand him and we will understand ourselves much more.

I talked with the person who hurt me the most a few days ago. It’s funny to hear him telling me that he wants to earn his own money. Seriously, it is something I never expected from him. And I do see him doing better at school. He always come to me and tell me about his grades, but I never show him that I’m in fact very proud of him. I believe that in some parts of him that he wants me to be happy. Once, I saw him smiling when looking at me talking with my friends.  I feel bad for leaving him behind, but I guess he expected that. He betrayed me. But I’m slowly getting closer to him because I guess I am immature to ignore him for so long. No one deserves to be ignored.

Hum, the past is the past. Move forward. =)

Bleeding Love

But something happened
For the very first time with you
My heart melts into the ground
Found something true
And everyone’s looking round
Thinking I’m going crazy

But I don’t care what they say
I’m in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don’t know the truth
My heart’s crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

I really like this song.

I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice. It is about two people who judged people too quickly on their first impressions  and later on ended up together anyway. It’s funny. It happens to me so much. But I learned my lesson. Myself is a victim of this. :P oh well, I laugh about it every day! haha…so don’t judge people too fast and get to know them before! =)

The Iliad

“The poem thus emphasizes the ephemeral nature of human beings and their world, suggesting that mortals should try to live their lives as honorably as possible, so that they will be remembered well. For if mortals’ physical bodies and material creations cannot survive them, perhaps their words and deeds can. Certainly the existence of Homer’s poem would attest to this notion.”

I believe in this also! :P haha I wanna mark history!! In a good way!

A Happy Day

Today was a really happy day. It is my friend’s bday! I’m glad she loves our gifts! Happy Bday, my love!

Then, I went to work  at 1h3o. I was really not motivated to work. But then, a manager from St-Bruno (she was training the new manager who happened to be my manager from my previous workplace!) said that I was an incredible salesperson. I thought : well, she is just saying anything to be polite. Then, my manager (who will leave this store and go work at Place Ville-Marie) gave me her evaluation of me. It is done every year for every employee. I GOT THE HIGHEST GRADE. SO I WILL HAVE A RAISE IN SALARY!!!!! Then, she asked me if her comments about were exact and if there is anything that I wish to improve.

Her comments about me are very acurate. Hahaha…oh well….basically, she wants me to show more leadership. I have a feeling they want to train me to become a team leader. Seeing them praising me like this is funny. Oh well, I’ll become a team leader then! NEW GOAL OF THE  YEAR!!

What I want to improve and work on this year:

-I want to expand my knowledge in the materials of the clothings. I learned that it is crucial to learn them because we need to tell the clients how to take care of the clothes.

-I want to improve my skills to approach every client and ask her about her needs.

-I want to find new ways to increase sales.

-I want to be more enthusiastic, sincere, and positive at work.

-I want to become a team leader by the end of 2008.   :)

Then the manager from St-Bruno called the dsitrict supervisor and said she loves me and doesnt mind to have me to work for them too. So basically, I am WANTED. I can choose where to work! I love this feeling!! To able to choose. So, more skills we have, more we are wanted. :)

I feel that the chinese astrologer is very accurate too. The book told me not to change job and do everyhting I need to do during the first half of the year cuz after its all bad luck! :P

MBA & Bachelor of Civil Law or Bachelor of Laws

Today, I was studying for my Business Law exam…For some reasons, I remember that I read in McGill’s viewbook that it offers a MBA program with a Bachelor of Civil Law or Bachelor of Laws. See, I cannot decide between Concordia and McGill. I have no worries about being accepted or not. The problem is more: which one suits me better? I CHOOSE my university. Since, I have the choice, well, I wanna make the best decision. I know that Concordia has a Co-op program and is well-known for its Business studies. Then, McGill has the international name which is good for me if I plan to work abroad. I don’t want to limit my future. My goal is to maximize it no? Since I’m still young. I need to open as much doors as possible and get higher education.

Today, I found a solution. I spoke with my ISSS teacher who happens to be a lawyer and decided that I will study the Bachelor degree in Concordia in Finance and the MBA in McGill. For the past few weeks, I was lost in my ideas about my future. Sure, I know I want to study Finance. However, I felt that there is something missing. I wonder…okay I am born with a brain that has the capacity to understand things fast…so why not expand my knowledge more? More challenges!!

I chose Business over Psychology because I dont wanna study for a doctor degree. However, I’m ready to study a Master degree. It always sounds better! :P “Hey, I’m a MBA student from McGill!” hahaha…PRESTIGE. =)

Way back into love :)

I’ve been living with a shadow overhead
I’ve been sleeping with a cloud above my bed
I’ve been lonely for so long
Trapped in the past, I just can’t seem to move on

I’ve been hiding all my hopes and dreams away
Just in case I ever need em again someday
I’ve been setting aside time
To clear a little space in the corners of my mind

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can’t make it through without a way back into love
Oh oh oh

I’ve been watching but the stars refuse to shine
I’ve been searching but I just don’t see the signs
I know that it’s out there
There’s got to be something for my soul somewhere

I’ve been looking for someone to shed some light
Not just somebody just to get me throught the night
I could use some direction
And I’m open to your suggestions

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can’t make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart again
I guess I’m hoping you’ll be there for me in the end

There are moments when I don’t know if it’s real
Or if anybody feels the way I feel
I need inspiration
Not just another negotiation

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can’t make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart to you
I’m hoping you’ll show me what to do
And if you help me to start again
You know that I’ll be there for you in the end

A look at my life

Hum..I know it has been a while since I updated my blog. I even almost forgot my username and password!! Well, during the past two weeks, I hanged out with Chiuchiu alot since she lives two houses away from mine! We do low-cost activities such as window-shopping? Haha because I need to save for my school fees: 45$ for bus pass, 140$ for university application fees, around 200$ for books!!! OMG! This is my whole month’s paycheck! Yes, I’m paid minimum wage….It’s sad eh? Oh well, I’ll  invest in my education and later I’ll earn big! =) I know I will!hahaha…then I’ll get my walk-in closet of shoes and clothes!! Yeah, since summer, I upgraded my whole wardrobe! I know I seem to spend alot, but well, it isn’t that much!! I was really depressed the last four years , so i didn’t take care of myself alot. And I regret… Now, I want to treat myself better! Hum, I don’t want to waste my time anymore. I invest in new clothes and shoes that make the most of myself! But I still stick to be true to myself: Be naturally beautiful. I don’t want to be Barbie. I just want to be a better me, a happier me, a more confident me.

My newest purchases and expenses:

-2 suit pants: one in black and one in grey (For work =)  my crappy 10$ work pants are too big for me now…I lost too much weights. I went from size 3 to size 0??? OMG…So I need new ones and they were so cheap! 25$ for two of them! From Smart Set!! Good quality!!

-A pair of dark jeans with jambes évasées! (Haha my only jeans with jambes évasées! others were all bootcut or skinnies!)

-New haircut: It looks pretty much the same style, but less thick hahaha…And I will try to give up my headband that is killing my baby hairs! According to the hairdresser, my hair loss is mostly due to my constant wear of headbands and ponytails. Damn….That is my favorite morning head look! :P I need to be more creative in the mornings then!

-Did my eyebrows for the first time!! I look actually better after!! It’s amazing! Love it. Hum another 13$ monthly expenses! :P

-Made new jewelry with the swavroski beads that we bought online! I LOOOOVE THEM! I can’t wait to show them off! I have like tons of necklaces, bracelets and earrings now! kekekekke Most of them are gifts from friends and sis! YAY!

And today I also revised my 2008 goals and changed those that aren’t realistic:

-I noticed that it is impossible for me to save 200$ per week, but 200$ per month. So, well, I’ll stick to that goal then. It is more realistic due to all the living expenses that I need to pay per month!

-I lost 15 pounds already, but I’m aiming to build muscles now and have a healthier lifestyle! I aim to do 1h of exercise per day. Like if I can’t finish everything that I need to do within an hour, well too bad! Haha at least I did it, that’s all it counts! I learned to be less hard on myself! Anyway, I don’t need to lose any more weights! I just want to be healthier! =)

-Do business , eh Chiu chiu and Amzie-poo? *winkwink*

 My 2008 wishlist :

-New glasses (mine is pretty old and damaged! Need new ones! A cooler frame! I’m willing to invest 500$ in this and have a good pair of glasses that last for another 2 years! )

-Braces (Yes, I WILL have them this year!I waited for soooo long and worked sooo hard for them! I will do anything to have a more beautiful smile!) (6400$)

-Trenchcoat (I hesitate between a bold red color or a simple beige one…Hum…this year, I want to try something new! So I might pick the red one! ) (40$)

-Another matt&nat bag!!!! (100$)

-Black High heels to match my suit pants and look incredibly professionally hot and sexy? hahaha…I already have my short boots, grey heels…but I don’t have a high black one….I have a short black heels tho! (40$)

Oh dear lord, I need around 8000$ to fulfill my dreams! But well, I’m working hard!! And saving for that! :P

I’m pretty happy that I did workout with Chiu and Dindin at Nautilus last week! It feels so good! I noticed it isn’t hard to dfo exercise everyday! And I looove the sauna there!!!

I can’t wait for the weather to be better! I want to wear the cool shoes that I bought!! I have so many of them! The last time I checked I have 15 shoes… O__O Hahahaha…Yup, I’m building my walk-in closet! Shoes are somehow everlasting if we choose simple classic models! I’m like that anyways…I always buy something that can last for long! :) I’m somewhat done with my expenses on clothes. I got everything I need. The essentials. I’m good for 2 more years with that! :P

Btw, I will tell you people when I’ll update my blog on my msn nn! So, you people won’t get too disappointed to come by and see that there is nothing updated yet! :P

The Place d’Arme

The Place d’Armes is at the center of Montreal’s oldest public place. It is a site where we often visit, but we rarely pay attention to the historical influences on its building. If we do notice the little details of each building, we will learn more about all the periods of Montreal’s past. For example, the designers of the head office of Bank of Montreal got their inspiration from Greco-roman architecture. The Bank has large Corinthian marble columns on its façade and a dome on the roof, which is an imitation of the Pantheon’s top. Moreover, inside the building, the structure of the ceiling resembles the one that Raphael drew in his famous work ” The School of Athens”. On one of the wall, there is a board carving the names of the Bank’s employees who fought and died in the First and Second World Wars. This reminds us Greco-roman values of honor, pride and courage. In the center of the room, there is a statue of Patria, which is a female embodiment of the nation. During Greco-roman times, every citizen was considered as a soldier and felt a solid association with their state.

Moreover, the Notre-Dame Basilica has all the characteristics of Medieval Gothic Cathedrals.  It has pointed arches, stained glass windows depicting religious scenes and religious sculptures on the façade. Gothic cathedrals were the largest structures in city and were the heart of people’s daily activities.

Across the street from the basilica, there is Square Place d’Armes where a monument was built in honor of Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the founder of Montreal city. The sculptures of the predominant figures such as Lemoyne and Jeanne Mance represent the Exploration period. The carvings on the monument illustrate the conflicts between the Europeans and the Natives. Europeans wished to convert Natives to Christianity, but they mostly mistreated them. The Iroquois statue has no name because it symbolizes the European lack of understanding of native culture. The Place d’Armes is also the center of trade and wars between Europeans and Natives.

Next, the Saint-Sulpice Seminary is constructed in the image of French manor house from the Absolutism period. It is a huge walled building with many windows and huge gardens. On top, there is also a clock like Louis XIV’s Palace de Versailles’. It symbolizes the Scientific Revolution, which was when we started to quantify things and even time. The New York Life Building is Montreal’s first skyscraper. Since it was Montreal’s first attempt to build a skyscraper, the constructors tried to integrate every architecture styles together into a single structure. Erected during the Industrial Revolution period, it was made with foreign materials imported from United States. The red bricks, which looked different then its surrounding buildings’ materials, represent people’s anticipation of the future. Moreover, there are a clock of medieval influences and gargoyle-like statues of the Greco-roman styles on the top of the building.

Finally, the Art Deco Alfred Building located diagonally across from the church is a miniature version of the Imperial State Building. Inside, there are elevators and decorations inspired by futuristic ideas. It is a building of more than ten stories high. This building of the Contemporary Period shows numerous innovations that were made possible due to our advanced technology.

In our western civilization class, we learned that buildings are not constructed just for fun. Often, they represent the wealth, the importance and the preoccupation of a civilization. The Place d’Armes is an example of modern people’s preoccupations and fascinations of the past. Since we have access to information more easily with the technology that we have, we are more able to integrate old knowledge with new ones. As we often say, knowledge of the past helps us understand our present and guide us to make better decision for the future. The Greeks and Romans taught us to be proud of our nation and be courageous in war times. The carvings of the relationships between Europeans and Indians on the podium taught us to be more tolerant towards foreign cultures. Today, Montreal is a multicultural city where people are proud of their culture and are also tolerant of other ethnicities.
